NRCS Technical Guide |
Technical guides are the primary
technical references for NRCS. They contain technical
information about the conservation of soil, water, air,
and related plant and animal resources.
Technical guides used in each field office are localized
so that they apply specifically to the geographic area
for which they are prepared. These documents are
referred to as Field Office Technical Guides (FOTGs).
The FOTG is maintained in each NRCS field office as a
compilation of technical knowledge, resource data
references and conservation practice standards.
Appropriate parts of the Field Office Technical Guides
are automated as databases, computer programs, and other
electronic-based materials such as those included in the
web pages at

Soil Survey Books |
We have the Kane
County Soils Survey in hardcopy. Call 630.584.7961 Ext.
3 or email to receive a copy of the Kane County Soil
Survey Book. A digital soil survey on CD is still
expected to be published in the near future, but for
those seeking a digital version of the soils survey and
have a GIS software, the data is available from the
USDA-SSURGO website.
DuPage County-The DuPage Soil Survey is in paper form.
We now have both the Soil View CD in digital
format, and the always classic paper based version. For
customers with GIS capabilities the same data is
available through SSURGO (see below). Call 630.584.7961

Soil Information |
Soil Survey Geographic (SSURGO) Database, USDA-NRCS
Soil Survey Division, National SSURGO Database. Access
the latest soils data information for select areas of
the United States and it's territories. At SSURGO
Database Download screen click on SSURGO Listing to view
the databases available. Databases codes are listed
alphabetically by state abbreviation. To view databases
you must have ArcView.
Soils
Information- The Web sites for the National Soil
Survey Center and Soil Survey Division have combined
into this useful website. Access to Illinois soils
information as well as nationwide.
