Campton Township Park This is a small wetland restoration/demonstration project on Brown Road in Wasco. Volunteers are needed to help plant native vegetation, control invasive plant species and monitor plant growth. Tree Sale The annual tree sale, held in conjunction with Earth Day in April, is a big event! Volunteers are needed to pack bareroot trees and shrubs. Sales Information Page Used Oil Help the environment, and help us staff the Used Oil Collections held from April to October approximately once a month in various locations around the county. Volunteers are needed to empty used oil containers into 50 gallon barrels. It's a messy job, but a worthwhile cause! Watershed Planning Groups Get involved with one of the many watershed groups in progress! Fox River Ecosystem Partnership, Blackberry Creek, Big Rock Creek and Waubonsee Creek watersheds are all active. Call the office at 630.584.7961 Ext. 3 to learn more. Classroom Programs In partnership with Kane County Farm Bureau, volunteers are needed for presentations to 4th grade classes. Materials and training are provided! Kane County Farm Bureau Ag. Days Each year in March, during National Agriculture Week, thousands of 4th graders visit this extravaganza to learn about agriculture. Volunteers are needed as presenters and tour guides. Becoming a Director or Associate Director Each year elections are held for 2-3 seats serving two year terms as directors for the Soil and Water Conservation District. If you are interested in becoming involved in the Soil & Water Conservation District attending board meetings will give you a better understanding of what we do. Associate Directors are volunteers interested in providing advice to the Soil & Water Conservation District in their area of expertise, yet do not have the time to commit to serving on the Board. If you have an interest in becoming involved, attending a board meeting will give you a better understanding of what we do. |
